Job Summary

This role involves providing strategic leadership to a team of Financial Educators by establishing and articulating the strategic direction and expectations for the business area. It includes identifying opportunities to enhance the member journey, setting clear expectations for the team, and monitoring their performance. Collaboration with key internal partners such as relationship management, compliance, marketing, legal, and wealth management is essential. The role also includes supporting Financial Educators in building and maintaining relationships with members, establishing performance metrics, and implementing a disciplined approach to practice management. Accountability is crucial, as the role requires holding teams accountable to key performance indicators and providing feedback. Additionally, the role involves guiding and supporting complex member interactions, educating and coaching on products and solutions, managing talent, assessing training and development needs, conducting member handoffs, implementing change management practices, and promoting continuous improvement.

 

What You'll Do

  • Strategic Leadership: Establish and articulate the strategic direction and high-level expectations for the business area to senior associates, leveraging data-driven insights and advanced analytics. 

  • Annual Business Planning: Lead the annual business planning process to strategically identify and prioritize the most significant opportunities to enhance the member journey. Utilize predictive modeling and performance metrics to set high-level expectations for the team, drive execution, and monitor performance accordingly. 

  • Executive Collaboration: Collaborate with key internal partners such as relationship management, compliance, marketing, legal, wealth management. Collaborate with key internal partners and senior relationship managers to optimize referrals, design and deploy plan sponsor engagement strategies, and enhance outcomes for ministry partners and members.  

  • Support for Financial Consultants: Provide strategic support to Financial Consultants in establishing and strengthening relationships with key members and Ministry Partners with close alignment with the Relationship Manager. 

  • Performance Metrics: Partner with senior business area leadership and key partners to establish metrics, support targets, and monitor associate performance using business intelligence tools and dashboards. 

  • Practice Management: Implement a disciplined approach to practice management, including strategically identifying and prioritizing planning for meetings, following up on meetings, and maintaining consistent records in the CRM and Outreach system to enable real-time tracking and data analytics. 

  • Accountability: Understand and hold teams accountable to key performance indicators; provide feedback and coaching to influence outcomes, utilizing performance management software. 

  • Risk Management: Serve as the first line of defense by proactively identifying potential risk and compliance issues and collaborating with appropriate partners to address them. Utilize risk assessment tools and compliance management systems. 

  • Member Interaction: Provide guidance and support in handling complex member interactions or resolving escalated complaints or disputes, leveraging customer service management software. 

  • Education and Coaching: Educate and coach Financial Consultants on GuideStone’s products and solutions, including knowledge of tax and investment strategies for various plans such as 403(b)(9), 403(b)(7), and ERISA. Utilize e-learning platforms and knowledge management systems. 

  • Talent Management: Hire, develop, and engage diverse talent; manage team performance by setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, and coaching to expectations using talent management systems. 

  • Training and Development: Evaluate team needs for training, education, and skill-building; connect team members with the appropriate partners and resources to accelerate their development through learning management systems. 

  • Client Handoffs: Conduct introductory handoffs for retirement plan participants whose account balances qualify them for wealth or managed accounts, utilizing client onboarding software. 

  • Change Management: Champion change and implement robust change management practices to drive business transformation, employing change management frameworks and tools. 

  • Continuous Improvement: Exhibit a mindset of continuous improvement and implement routines and processes to drive the desired behaviors and oversight, leveraging process improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma. 

  • Responsible for full scope of supervision including reviewing performance of assigned staff. Carry out assigned supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Master’s Degree, preferred.

  • 5 years of direct experience.

  • 10 years of relevant experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Travel is 40%-60% annually.

  • CRPC, or CFP, and/or CEBS are preferred.

  • Proficient PC skills in MS Office

  • Competent in use of webinar presentation media

  • Knowledge of the Southern Baptist Convention, state conventions, associations, and Churches preferred

  • Comprehensive business knowledge: marketing, relationship management, customer service, and public relations.

  • Knowledge of financial support planning issues for the 403b market which would include ministers and churches: tax reporting for ministers; social security issues for clergy; federal reporting requirements for churches; tax treatment of protection benefits; housing allowance; and business-related expenses.

  • Working knowledge of health Insurance plans a plus.

  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, multi-tasking abilities and a high level of personal motivation to take self-directed action.

  • Communication skills:  Verbal, writing, listening, effective presentations and teaching.

  • Technical skills such as: operation of personal computer, cell phone and webinar software
